'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' set a record for the first week in theaters

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is also the second-highest grossing movie in North American film history in its first weekend with $ 220 million in ticket sales in the United States and Canada. The record remains for Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) with $ 248 million.

Ferdinand's animated comedy debut with Star Wars: The Last Jedi earned only modest $ 13 million.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the eighth installment of the 40-year-old-themed space-driven series directed by Rian Johnson.

The film features Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher as the two main characters Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia.
